La Chandeleur
Last Thursday was a religious holiday in France called La Chandeleur. (it always falls on February 2nd) While some celebrate its religious meaning, many just celebrate it as Crepe Day. This means everyone is eating crepes or cooking them. For those that cook crepes they put a coin in the crepe and have to flip the crepe up in the air and call heads or tails. If they make the right call, it means their family will have prosperity for the next year. Others say that you have to hold a coin in one hand and successfully flip the crepe with the other. Either way, I know that I just used the holiday as an excuse to treat myself to a delicious crepe at lunch. What a day to celebrate. Only in France would you find a national Crepe Day.
